Medieval Cats

Medieval cat illustrations are my favourite of all cat illustrations. Prioritising symbolism and meaning over realism in most cases, there are many examples of medieval cat illustrations where they have human-like faces, especially noses.

I’ve drawn three in this style, and it’s a lot of fun experimenting with a ‘wrong’ depiction of a subject. Purposefully setting out to not be 100% accurate is freeing.
