There’s a specific kind of grief for people you’ve never met. It’s a sadness tinged with, guilt and maybe a sense that you’re being self indulgent.
We can now spend every day watching and identifying with people on YouTube and similar sites who we’d never have encountered before. And when those people, who have become part of your life are suddenly no longer there, it’s like losing a friend. In a lot of ways, it is losing a friend.
This person took harsh criticism and just kept going. Didn’t let it shrink him or change what he was doing. It’s a small legacy, but it’s one I carry with me.
And, of course, it’s a resilience that I aspire to, I’m not there yet, but maybe one day I will.
I’ll miss the videos.
